KATHMANDU, Jan. 31 -- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that ordinances were introduced out of necessity for the country.
Addressing the first meeting of the winter session of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Friday, PM Oli stated that there is a provision to issue ordinances when deemed necessary during periods when Parliament is not in session.
PM Oli said that since those ordinances are now the property of Parliament, it can decide what to do with them. "Now the ordinances have become the property of Parliament. We have 60 days from today," he said. "It is now up to Parliament to either reject them, pass them as they are, or introduce a substitution bill by amending them."
