Nepal, July 28 -- Following the devastating flood and landslide in Rasuwagadhi (Bhotekoshi) on July 8, insurance companies have received claims exceeding Rs 840 million (approximately USD 6.9 million) related to damages caused by the disaster. The Nepal Insurance Authority reported that 68 claims totaling Rs 843.8 million have been filed with 11 non-life insurance companies.
Property insurance claims constitute the largest share with Rs 580.1 million, followed by marine insurance claims related to transport and import amounting to Rs 162.3 million. Engineering and contractor risk insurance accounts for Rs 54 million, while public motor insurance and private motor insurance claims total Rs 25.95 million and Rs 21.45 million, respectively.
