KATHMANDU, Feb. 27 -- The government is preparing to increase the age limit for obtaining a driving license. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) has prepared a draft for this provision in the Vehicle and Traffic Management Regulations, 2081.

The Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act, 2049 (1993) stipulates that a person must be 16 years of age to obtain a driving license for motorcycles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The MoPIT confirmed that a draft for a new law has been prepared, setting the age limit at 18 years.
