Nepal, June 20 -- Mayor of Nagarjun Municipality, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has been found guilty of corruption by the Special Court. A bench of judges Teknarayan Kunwar and Rambahadur Thapa convicted Basnet on charges filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in December last year. He was accused of accepting bribes and laundering assets. The case involves Rajup Prasad Kandel, chairman of Padma Colony, who allegedly paid Basnet Rs 92.25 million to secure land in his company's name. The court confirmed Basnet accepted this bribe.
