Kathmandu, Aug. 8 -- The monsoon trough has shifted north of its usual position, lingering over Nepal's Terai belt. While the monsoon's influence persists nationwide, the moisture-laden winds fueling it have shown signs of weakening, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

This afternoon, skies are expected to remain generally overcast across the country. Moderate rain is likely in large swathes of the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces; in some pockets of other hilly areas; and a few parts of Madhesh Province and other Terai regions.
