KATHMANDU, Nov. 18 -- An inmate who escaped from Central Jail during the GenZ protest has been arrested again on charge of trafficking brown heroin, police said.

A team from the Nepal Police Narcotics Control Bureau apprehended Jung Bahadur Rai, 41, originally from Falelung Rural Municipality-2 in Panchthar, from Nagdaha-24 of Lalitpur. Police recovered 280 grams of brown heroin from his possession.

Rai had previously been imprisoned on drug trafficking charges. He was arrested on September 3, 2023 with 142 grams of brown heroin, after which the Kathmandu District Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and a fine of Rs 500,000.
