KATHMANDU, Sept. 22 -- People living in Kathmandu have started leaving for their hometowns and villages as the government has allowed the operation of long-distance passenger vehicles.

A large number of people were left stranded in the Kathmandu Valley due to the lockdown enforced to curb the spread of COVID-19 as they were unable to return to their hometowns and villages.

The long-haul passenger vehicles resumed their services after a hiatus of six months.

People were seen rushing to the ticket counters and bus parks with their belongings.
