KATHMANDU, Nov. 20 -- Amar Man Shakya, the immediate past president of the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), has passed away. HAN said he died of COVID-19 complications.

According to the HAN, Shakya, who owns the Kathmandu-based Amar Hotel, breathed his last Friday morning at the age of 72 while undergoing treatment at Om Hospital in Chabahil.

Though he contracted COVID-19 before the Dashain festival, he was having treatment at the hospital due to pneumonia and other complications, according to a HAN source.

Issuing a statement, HAN said that the hospitality sector has lost an active campaigner for the development of the hotel industry and tourism sector of the country.
