Nepal, April 2 -- The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee has ordered Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to clarify the government's role and responsibility in the incident of looting, vandalism, and arson during the pro-monarchy protest on March 28.

During Wednesday's meeting of the committee at Singha Durbar, lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition parties pressed the Home Minister for answers, citing the loss of life and property caused by the protest.

Committee Chairperson Ram Hari Khatiwada confirmed that Minister Lekhak will attend Friday's session to present a detailed report on the incident.

Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Center), blamed the government for failing to control the situation at Tinkune.
