Nepal, April 27 -- The Supreme Court (SC) has deferred the writ petition related to the controversy over the appointment of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, along with the supplementary petition today as well. The bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Tek Prasad Dhungana also classified the case as "cannot be heard" on Sunday.
Earlier, the government removed the age limit for the Governor's appointment, prompting a writ petition to be filed in the SC challenging this decision.
Meanwhile, after news broke that Dr Gunakar Bhatta, the Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, would be appointed as the Governor, lawyers Bishal Thapa and Pratibha Upreti submitted a supplementary petition on Friday, requesting that Bhatta not be appointed...
