KATHMANDU, May 11 -- The government has requested a week's time to finalize the Civil Service Bill, which is currently under discussion in the Federal Parliament's State Affairs Committee.

During Sunday's meeting, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak asked for five to six more days, stating that the bill would be concluded in the next session. "Give us five or six days. We'll wrap it up in the next meeting," he said, urging lawmakers to continue internal deliberations as the government does the same.

He indicated that consensus is close on two contentious issues, the "cooling-off period" and the age limit for civil service. "We've always passed bills based on consensus. We're very close to agreement on both points," Lekhak said.
