Nepal, Sept. 25 -- Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has clarified that demands raised by the Gen-Z movement-such as amending the constitution and changing the system of governance-do not fall within the mandate of her government.
Addressing the nation on Thursday, PM Karki noted that while the Gen-Z movement has called for a directly elected executive head of state and the abolition of provinces, such matters are beyond the jurisdiction of the interim government. Appointed on September 12, Karki faced early calls to introduce a directly elected executive prime minister, but she stressed that her government's sole mandate is to conduct elections and cannot pursue further constitutional changes.
