KATHMANDU, Feb. 28 -- The government has made it mandatory to have chlorine dosing units in drinking water facilities.
Minister for Drinking Water Pradip Yadav on Thursday made a decision to mandatorily apply chlorination in the drinking water facilities.
Minister Yadav said the decision was taken as per the government's long-term plan to ensure quality reforms in the drinking water facilities. "Availability of water is not enough. It should be of quality and safe. Safe drinking water is the fundamental right of citizens. The government is committed to ensuring this," according to the minister.
The government has set a goal to provide safe drinking water to 99 percent of the population by 2030.
