KATHMANDU, March 22 -- The government has abolished the National Land Commission. A minister confirmed that the decision to dissolve the commission was made during Thursday's cabinet meeting.

On September 15, 2021, the government formed a commission under the chairmanship of Keshab Niraula, the former president of the Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Teachers Association.

Prior to this, the previous government had terminated the Land Related Problem Resolution Commission led by UML leader Devi Gyawali. Following shifts in the power coalition, the decision to abolish the National Land Commission was made to pave the way for the formation of a new commission.
