Nepal, Sept. 18 -- Ravi Laxmi Chitrakar, wife of former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, who was seriously injured in a house fire during the Gen Z protests on September 9, has had her left hand amputated due to severe burns, officials said.
Doctors decided to surgically remove her hand after the burns threatened further damage to her body, Khanal told Republica.
According to Khanal, the 70-year-old Chitrakar is in critical condition and is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. "Doctors have informed us that 17 percent of her body is burned," Khanal said on Thursday afternoon. "Her condition is serious, and pneumonia has developed today."
