Nepal, Sept. 4 -- The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), an umbrella organization of journalists in Nepal, has condemned the government's decision to ban unregistered social media platforms, calling the move immature.
In a statement, FNJ General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal said the government's decision to shut down social media was immature and obstructed citizens' right to information.

He said, "Shutting down social media, which citizens use extensively for the exchange of information, means depriving them of their right to information. The government should have facilitated it, not imposed a ban. The decision to close it is immature."
