Nepal, Feb. 11 -- Amid haphazard development and human encroachment, forest area in Kailali district is depleting at an alarming rate. During the construction of Rani-Jamara-Kulariya Irrigation Project, 13,348 trees were cut down. Likewise, around 12,000 more trees need to be chopped to construct the Postal Highway, Seti Lokmarga and the Khutiya Dipayal Fast Track. Around 30,000 hectares of forest area is currently encroached in the district.
