The election process to select new leadership at the Nepali Congress Special General Convention formally began on Tuesday at Bhrikutimandap as negotiations between convention supporters and the party's establishment faction failed to yield any results.

According to the Central Election Committee (CEC), participants of the Special Convention have started filing their candidacies for the office-bearers' positions. Earlier, the CEC had published the final list of voters.
