KATHMANDU, Jan. 17 -- The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday said all preparations for upper house members election scheduled for January 23 have been completed.

The election body said it has already transported logistics such as ballot papers, inks and voter ID cards among others to provincial headquarters where upper house election is taking place.

The EC is holding the election on January 23 to elect 18 upper house members. The terms of 19 incumbent members are expiring on March 3.

Among them, 18 members will be elected from the political parties. As per the constitution, the president will nominate one member on her own.
