Kathmandu, Aug. 5 -- Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, who was in custody in two different cases - banking fraud and inciting violence-has been released after posting a total bail amount of Rs 2.8 million in two separate courts on Monday.

According to Parwati Hitan, the information officer at the Patan High Court, Prasai deposited Rs 2.5 million as bail in connection with a banking fraud case and Rs 300,000 in connection with organized crime and crimes against the state in the Tinkune incident.

He was jailed for allegedly leading a violent pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu on March 28.

On June 12, the Kathmandu District Court had ordered seven individuals, including Prasai, to be remanded in custody for further investigation.
