Nepal, March 24 -- Residents of Lamichaur in Baglung Municipality-8 have finally gained access to a reliable drinking water supply after 42 years. Despite being home to around 200 households, the area had been facing a severe water shortage for decades.
According to the Lamichaur Drinking Water Consumers' Committee Chairperson Tikaram Thapa, the municipality conducted a technical survey before drilling underground to extract water. On March 14, a machine drilled approximately 170 meters into the ground to access water, with regular supply beginning on March 22.
