KATHMANDU, May 31 -- When Nepal Police posted officers recently promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), it reassigned DIG Om Bahadur Rana, initially designated for the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office instead.

The police retained DIG Shiva Kumar Shrestha at the CIAA. Police spokesperson Ramesh Thapa confirmed that the authorities did not transfer DIG Shrestha. On May 20 (Jestha 6), the Ministry of Home Affairs had recommended 11 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) for promotion to DIG. The newly promoted DIGs received their insignia today.
