Nepal, July 23 -- Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday inched up 5.17 points to close at 2,978.88 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,973.70 points and plunged to the day's low at 2,948.97 points in the first 19 minutes, which was followed by a surge to as high as 2,992.1 points in the next 11 minutes. In another around three hours, the market again declined 40 points, while it recovered 26 points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

Seven out of the 13 trading groups were the gainers as the finance index inclined by the highest of 85.14 points. Of the six losers, non-life insurance fell by the largest of 84.20 points.
