COVID infection rate in Nepal drops to 14.3 percent

KATHMANDU, June 20 -- The COVID-19 infection rate in Nepal has sharply decreased. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the infection rate is 14.3 percent as of Saturday.
It decreased by 7 percent compared to the previous day. Saturday's COVID-19 tally is the lowest infection rate among those tested during the second wave. Of the 16,996 samples tested in the 24 hours, 2,401 were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive cases.
The total number of infected people in Nepal has reached 644,909. Of them, 388,672 were infected during the second wave. The number of deaths from coronavirus in Nepal has reached 8,685, including 34 additional deaths recorded on Saturday. Of them, 5,196 died during the second wave.
