Nepal, May 18 -- The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against former Madhesh Province Minister Bijay Kumar Yadav and seven others over alleged irregularities in the construction of a pond on government-owned land.

The case, filed at the Special Court, accuses the group of misusing public funds while building a pond on land belonging to the Sagar Nath Forest Project. Those charged include Bagmati Municipality Mayor Bharat Thapa and former chief Lila Kumari Moktan. The CIAA has demanded the recovery of Rs 560 million from the accused, citing severe financial irregularities and abuse of authority.
