Nepal, Sept. 2 -- The Office of the Government Attorney in Kathmandu on Tuesday filed a character assassination case against CPN-UML Central Committee member Ain Mahar under the Cybercrime Act at the Kathmandu District Court.
Mahar, who had surrendered to police on August 27 in connection with the allegations, has been accused by a woman of defaming her through digital platforms. According to the charge sheet, he allegedly circulated defamatory content on social media and sent offensive messages via apps such as WhatsApp, violating Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2006 (2063 BS).
