BUTWAL, Jan. 25 -- Both the candidates of the ruling coalition have secured victory as National Assembly (NA) members from Lumbini province.

Bishnu Kumari Sapkota of Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected from the women's category. According to Election Officer Kul Prasad Pandey, Sapkota got victory by securing 5435 votes while her rival Tulsa KC of CPN-UML got 2867 votes.

Gulmi's Sapkota belongs to the rival faction within the NC. In the beginning, the establishment faction of the party had prepared to make Pushpa Bhusal of Arghakhanchi a candidate in her place. But after strong opposition from the rival faction, Sapkota was finally given the ticket.
