Nepal, April 10 -- Senior Advocate Prof Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra has been elected the President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with a total of 5,052 votes, defeating his closest rival by a margin of over 2400 votes.

Senior Advocate Raman Shrestha, the closest contender, polled 2,621 votes, 2,431 less than Mishra.

Dr Mishra now heads a complete panel composed of 25 office bearers.

Candidates aligned with the Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA), close to the Nepali Congress, won 12 seats, including the president.
