New Delhi, Aug. 3 -- Bagmati Province Chief Minister (CM) Bahadur Singh Lama has resigned from his post, stating that he was compelled to step down due to internal maneuvering within his own party, the Nepali Congress.

Announcing his resignation at a press conference held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers at 6 PM on Sunday, Lama said he stepped down on the instructions of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba. Lama, who assumed office on July 24 last year, served as chief minister for one year and nine days.
