Nepal, Sept. 24 -- Dr Baburam Bhattarai, chair of the Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti), has proposed to resign from his position.

He made the proposal during a special extended meeting of the party's central committee on Wednesday.

Sources say Bhattarai intends to step down to hand over the leadership to the younger generation.
