Nepal, Jan. 9 -- As many as 17 sister organisations of Nepali Congress (NC) have come out against holding a special general convention, urging the party leadership to stay united and focus on the upcoming elections. The joint appeal was issued by establishment-aligned sister wings after general secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma called for a special convention.

Stressing the current political context, the organisations said the country and the people require collective and responsible leadership, and called on all party ranks to move forward in unity.
