Nepal, June 2 -- Pro-monarchist groups, including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and RPP-Nepal, have withdrawn their planned shutdown of the Kathmandu Valley scheduled for Monday, which they had called to press for the reinstatement of the monarchy.

Nabaraj Subedi, coordinator of the Joint People's Movement Committee, had announced the shutdown, accusing the police of interfering with and suppressing Sunday's protest. However, he later withdrew the call through a statement after authorities released all detained leaders and activists, including RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa and RPP Central Executive Committee member Deepak Singh, who were taken into custody on June 1.
