Nigeria, Nov. 1 -- US President Donald Trump has designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, a status reserved for nations engaged in or tolerating severe violations of religious freedom under the International Religious Freedom Act.

In a post made on Truth Social, Mr Trump claimed Christianity in Nigeria faces a serious existential threat because radical Islamists are killing thousands of the country's Christian population.
