Nigeria, March 19 -- President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State, sacking the governor, his deputy and the House of Assembly.

Mr Tinubu, in a broadcast to Nigerians, said the move was necessary due to the breakdown of law and order in the oil-rich state.
