Nigeria, Sept. 29 -- The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Nigerian government.

According to a statement released by the union on Monday, the decision was reached at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held during the weekend at the University of Abuja.

A source at the meeting had earlier told PREMIUM TIMES that the government had requested a three-week grace period to attend to ASUU's demand because President Bola Tinubu was travelling for his annual leave in France.

However, the grace period has expired, and ASUU is yet to hear from the government.
