Nigeria, Jan. 29 -- Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has insisted that he will no longer allow the infamous Monday sit-at-home directive to continue in all markets in the state.

Mr Soludo announced this on Wednesday during a press conference in Awka.

The governor's remarks came in the wake of his closure of the Onitsha Main Market over traders' compliance with the illegal sit-at-home.

He had ordered the market to be closed for one week when he visited it on Monday and observed that shops were closed in compliance with the sit-at-home order.

The illegal directive is often enforced by a faction of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
