Nigeria, Nov. 27 -- The Senate on Thursday confirmed a former House of Representatives member, Ayo Omidiran, as chairman of the Federal Character Commission, alongside 37 commissioners representing the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The nominees were confirmed after considering the report of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, presented during the plenary by its chairman, Allwell Onyesoh.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced the confirmation of the nominees after a majority of senators endorsed the report through a voice vote at the Committee of the Whole.
