Nigeria, March 19 -- The Nigerian Army on Monday said it felt betrayed after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicted soldiers, alongside armed thugs, over the violence that forced the suspension of the elections in Rivers State last week.

In a statement on Monday evening, the spokesperson for the 6 Division headquartered in Port Harcourt, Aminu Iliyasu, a colonel, said "regrettably" the army's submissions during the sitting of the INEC's fact-finding committee in Port Harcourt last week were not reflected in the statement issued by the electoral body on Saturday.

"This clearly indicates lack of trust by an institution that the NA sacrifices so much to assist in the course of performing their role," said Mr Iliyasu....
