Nigeria, Sept. 26 -- Ahead of the Friday coronation ceremonies of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the city of Ibadan is agog in merriment and preparations.

A PREMIUM TIMES' survey around the city Thursday evening showed that many indigenes and residents are anxiously waiting with bated breath for the crowning of the new king.

The stage is also set at the historic Mapo Hall, while preparations are ongoing at both the Bodija residence and Isale-Osi ancestral compound of the new Olubadan.

Mr Ladoja, who would receive both the staff and instrument of office on Friday, succeeds Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed on in July, aged 90.

He will be crowned the 44th Olubadan in history.
