Nigeria, May 26 -- According to BBC Hausa, a popular Nigerian Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has been barred from the 2025 Hajj rites.

Mr Gumi was part of the delegation of Islamic scholars sponsored by the Nigerian Hajj Commission (NAHCON) for the pilgrimage.

The cleric arrived in Medina on Saturday around 10:30 p.m. alongside other clerics. However, upon his arrival at the city's airport, Saudi immigration officials barred him from entering the country.

The BBC Hausa reported that Mr Gumi posted on Facebook that the Saudi government issued him a visa for Hajj, but he was denied entry into Medina to begin Hajj rites.
