Nigeria, July 12 -- The Lagos State local government election has gotten off to a slow start on Saturday, as election officials struggle to arrive on time.
Officials from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived in the Ijegun area around 9:30 am, more than an hour after the official start time of 8 a.m.
As of 10 a.m., voting, which is scheduled to end at 3 p.m., has not begun. Our correspondent observed that two out of five polling units on the premises of the Ijegun Primary School have yet to receive voting materials.
