Nigeria, July 13 -- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a landslide victory in Saturday's local government elections in Lagos State, winning all 20 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) announced the results on Sunday. The only exception to the APC's sweep was Ward D in Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clinched one councillorship seat.
Over 7 million registered voters were expected to participate in the elections to choose chairmen and councillors for the state's 20 local government areas (LGAs) and 37 LCDAs. Voting took place in 13,325 polling units across the state.
