Nigeria, Sept. 16 -- The management of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua has banned the popular "signing off" ceremony often observed by students after their final examinations.

In a memo issued on Monday by its Deputy Registrar, Nathaniel Ibanga, the polytechnic said the celebrations had become "unacceptable."

Mr Ibanga said the institution's management has noted that the celebrations have been going on in the institution recently.

He added the institution's management has received complaints from various organisations on the abuse of their professional outfits by the students taking part in the celebrations.
