Nigeria, July 2 -- Nigeria's track and field community has been dealt another heavy blow following the announcement that quarter miler, Imaobong Nse Uko, has been banned for two years by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) over a doping violation.

According to the AIU's June 2025 sanctions list obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, the 21-year-old quarter-miler was found guilty of an anti-doping rule violation committed on 5 June 2024.

Her period of ineligibility will run until 23 July 2026, and all results recorded from the date of the infraction have been officially disqualified.

Imaobong became famous after winning three gold medals at the 2021 World U20 Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.
