Nigeria, June 23 -- The Sahel is one of Africa's most climate-vulnerable areas. The region increasingly experiences extreme weather such as floods and droughts, and ongoing land degradation, depleting the natural resources vital to local economies.
Between 1979 and 2010, average temperatures in the region rose by 0.6degC to 0.8degC, and further increases of 3degC to 6degC are projected by the end of the 21st century.
