Nigeria, Feb. 21 -- The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi said Thursday that the planned local government election in Osun State is unconstitutional, citing a recent Court of Appeal decision that restored previously sacked local council officials in the state.

Mr Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), in a statement shared with journalists, referenced the 10 February judgement of the Court of Appeal, which nullified an earlier High Court ruling that removed elected local government officials in 2022.
