Nigeria, March 18 -- Days after what the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, had promised would be Nigeria's best election, there are widespread claims that the polls instead did not meet the minimum standards for credibility.

The preliminary reports of many domestic and international observer groups noted that the election failed to meet the expectation of Nigerians.

Many were disappointed because INEC had the ample time, resources and experience to prepare for the election.
