The 4K restoration of Satyajit Ray's celebrated 1970 film Aranyer Din Ratri was launched at PVR ICON, Vasant Kunj, in the presence of cinema veterans and cultural leaders. The event celebrated the technical revival of the Oscar-winning auteur's work and its enduring relevance in Indian cinema.
Yogi Priyavrata Animesh Ji, Founder of the OOJ Foundation, attended the screening and panel discussion. In a highlight of the evening, Yogi Ji honored veteran actress Sharmila Tagore for her iconic performance in the film. He presented her with "The Fire," a book from the OOJ Foundation's Element Series, noting the symbolic connection between the element of fire and the "transformative truth" found in Satyajit Ray's storytelling.
The restoration, spearheaded by Shri Arijit Dutta of Priya Cinema Entertainment, was described by the OOJ Foundation as a vital act of "cultural continuity." The foundation's philosophy, which links art to an elemental understanding of life, found a perfect parallel in the film's exploration of urban identities unravelling in the wild. The event concluded as a landmark meeting of Indian art, heritage preservation, and philosophical discourse.
