Socially engaged art aims to create social and political change through collaboration with individuals, communities and institutions for the creation of participatory art. The EU-funded FEINART project includes an extensive collaboration between degree-awarding research centres in political philosophy, art theory and cultural management, and the independent European art sector. It provides the first interdisciplinary and holistic investigation of the democratic role and function of socially engaged art in Europe.
