Microscopic or quantum systems consisting of many interacting particles - so-called quantum many-body systems - can exhibit spontaneous emergent phenomena that are exotic and unique, opening the door to opportunities for unprecedented applications. However, since most of these have been discovered by chance and we have very little knowledge of the physics behind them, we are far from the ability to control them.
